The Oatmeal Bible Hour offers eclectic worship
A high-fiber, low-fat alternative Christian worship experience
Oregon-Idaho United Methodist --
Jan 1, 2004 --
The monthly worship is eclectic, casual, fun, user-friendly and a little loud. If you are looking for traditional, contemporary, modern and post-modern, you may find something to like in the experimental mix. But behind it all is the creative presence of God. Artists, poets, musicians, dancers, writers are all welcome and so are generations X, Y, Z and A-W as well. Led by the Rev. David Golden, The Oatmeal Bible Hour provides a unique worship experience using whatever gifts of creativity and vision are to be found among parishioners. The musical talent of a group known as Zimrath plays rock, country, jazz, folk and hymns, in their own words, "with equal incompetence and disregard for musical rules or good taste." The goal is not to replace more traditional churches in the area, but to provide another effective tool for God that challenges hearts and minds and changes lives to reach their full potential in Christ.
