Oatmeal in the Press>
Unexpected
Jun 1, 2007 --
There are definite times that we expect, yea invoke, the presence of GOD, JESUS, the HOLY SPIRIT, e.g. during our prayers, through our sacraments, through our reading of the Holy Scriptures, through our formal church services, to name a few. There are other times, however, when such Presence may occur unexpectedly. That happened to me this past Sunday ,May 6. Totally my fault I am sure - I just had not given it much thought beforehand.
But ... I felt sincerely that Presence in Fellowship Hall, KUMC, Sunday, May 6 sometime between 5 and 6 PM via the music, voices and messages of David Golden and Andrea Parks, collectively and individually. The occasion was the initiation of " The Oatmeal Bible Hour".
David continuously impresses with his multiple talents, musical interpretations, mastery of a variety of instruments, warm and engaging personality, and prayerful, worship-centered guidance. An added pleasure Sunday eve was the spontaneous appearance and participation of his young son.
Have you not heard and enjoyed the joyful song of a house wren in the early morning or just before dusk in this beautiful North Central Florida setting? Listen! Do you hear it now? And then there's Andrea Parks! The tune that comes to my mind upon hearing her music goes something like this: "The littlest bird sings the prettiest song. The littlest bird sings the prettiest song." The wren and Andrea, two more of GOD's wonderful creations to enjoy!
Sincere thanks to you, David and Andrea. You provided me and Sarah, and I suspect lots of other people, with an unexpected and extraordinary worship experience.
Hey, Folks. Mark your calendars! Don't miss the next serving of "Oatmeal". I like mine with blueberries, raisins and a smidgen of tupelo honey.
OATMEAL ! Good for your Body! Good for your Soul!
