The Oatmeal Bible Hour

Hello everyone:

The Oatmeal Bible Hour is high-fiber low-fat alternative Christian worship for people with a taste for adventure. It is currently happening in Keystone Heights, FL since the spring of 2007, but got its beginnings in Portland, OR in 2003.

We don't believe in labels like "traditional" worship (it's all traditional) or "contemporary" worship (it's all contemporary). We're not "emerging," because most of us emerged many decades ago. We like to do interesting things with great sacred music of the past/present/future. We like to do interesting things with great secular music of the past/present/future, because sometimes we can learn something sacred from it. We like to learn new things about Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, and how we relate to them and each other. We like artists, dancers, poets, actors, theologians and other people like that. So that means we like everybody. We like to take risks with the arts. Sometimes we fail spectacularly, and you'll wish you'd stayed home and watched that Desperate Housewives rerun that you have on Tivo. But sometimes you'll be glad you were there to witness it.

If you are in the Gainesville area, and feel like embarking on a new adventure in Christian worship, send us an email or come on by.
